Well, the State Convention, hosted by the Frank J. Carroll Detachment and Auxiliary is over.  Northern Colorado was very well represented.  Attending were:  Ron Brown, George Everett, Mac McCormick, Chuck Thornburg and Ken Dimick for the Detachment and Nancy Dimick, Margaret Thornburg, Neva Schnauber and Debbie Pierson for the Auxiliary.

We are still the newest Auxiliary and our membership increased by 8 members this year, the largest reported at State.  We also had the honor of having one of our own members Neva Schnauber recognized with the Auxiliary Member of the Year Award.   Congratulation Neva the memory book and VAVS volunteer report will be taken to National Convention in Boston in August for more judging.  But we already know what a great job you do with the projects you volunteer for.

I myself received an award also.  The Detachment on the State level awarded me with the Distinguished Service Award..  I want to thank the Northern Colorado Detachment for submitting me for this recognition.  What an honor to work with the great talent in the Northern Colorado Detachment and Auxiliary.

And last but certainly not least we also took first place in all 5 reports that are submitted at the State Conference.  Americanism, Child Welfare,  VAVS,  Rehabilitation and Civics.  It is amazing how many hours that Northern Colorado donates to the community.  Please continue to submit your hours to me.  If you don’t have a calendar please let the Auxiliary know and we will get one out to you.

The Auxiliary is working on a Widow Tea scheduled for  July 8, 2006.  We are inviting the widows of deceased Marines to remind them that they are still part of the Marine Family.  If you know of a widow please make sure we have their name and address.

Besides the Garage Sale (our major fund raiser) May 19 & 20th .  The Auxiliary is also sponsoring a Cheyenne VAMC BBQ for our veterans that are residing there.  If you have time join us.  The smiles that you see are more than worth the trip.

Once again the Auxiliary would like to have a bed in the Bed Race, any “young” Marines that would like to run in this event?  Let me know as soon as possible as the Corn Roast Parade is August 26th.

Welcome Dylan.  It has been a while since we have had a newsletter.  And a lot of our communications for the Detachment are though this avenue.  Another way is through email and while not everyone has an email, if you do, email me with it dpierson5@comcast.net.
